Job description

ELECTRICIAN

1.0 FTE Permanent Position – 40 Hours

Hours of Work: 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

$29.08 per hour (CUPE Maintenance 1 Salary Grid)

Reports to the Lead Supervisor of Electrical Services

Interested applicants are required to submit a cover letter and resume.

Interviews and practical testing will be conducted.

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Perform a full range of functions such as installation, maintenance and repair of appropriate building services
  • Maintain, adjust, repair or install all types of electrical equipment having complex interlocking or interrelated circuits, eg. generators, transformers, switch-boards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems or other transmission equipment, proven experience with frequency drives installations and troubleshooting
  • Test continuity of circuits, diagnose problems and suggest corrective action
  • Identify hazardous materials prior to commencement of work and be prepared to work within an asbestos and confined space environment
  • Working at heights which may exceed 10 metres
  • Assume responsibility for the work and equipment allocated
  • Provide estimates for assigned Work Orders
  • Responsible for the acquisition of supplies, inventory-related duties and the completion of required paperwork reports, time sheets and logs etc. connected specifically with work assigned (scheduled).
  • Truck driving and delivery of product which may include trailer towing, material acquisition for delivery and/or set-up of equipment, and light truck vehicle cleaning and maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Valid Electrician - Construction and Maintenance License, TYCO RC Certified, CSA Z462 certified

Five years of recent experience in installations of commercial, industrial and construction settings

  • Knowledge and understanding of pertinent safety and building codes, regulations and legislation
  • Ability to work from blueprints, drawings, laserfiche layouts or other specifications
  • Computer skills
  • Experience in estimating and specification preparation
  • Experience in Energy Management Systems and temperature and boiler and HVAC control systems
  • Experience in fire alarm and life safety systems, building protection systems, and public address and time clock systems
  • Valid Class G Driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends with suitable prior notice
