Job Summary

The incumbent performs electrical work on campus, including installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and components.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain electrical devices, motors, panels, circuits, and drives.
• Install low voltage and data wiring.
• Maintain fire alarm systems.
• Bend, assemble, and install conduits and electrical fittings.
• Perform preventive maintenance and recommend system upgrades.
• Follow safety regulations and maintain a clean work environment.
• Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Construction Electrician certificate recognized by Nova Scotia Department of Education; Red Seal is an asset.
• Five years of recent journeyperson experience in construction or maintenance in a commercial or institutional setting (up to 600 VAC).
• Certifications such as Communication Cabling Specialist and fire alarm experience are assets.
• Knowledge of Nova Scotia Occupational Health & Safety Act, Canadian Electrical Code, and relevant regulations.
• Ability to read drawings and blueprints, take direction, and work at heights.
• Good communication, organizational skills, and reliability.
• Willingness to work overtime and respond to after-hours calls.
• Familiarity with microcomputers and tools of the trade.
