Job description

Thrive Freeze Dry, a rapidly growing freeze-dried manufacturing company, is recruiting for an experienced Electrician for our office in Langley, BC, reporting to the Maintenance Manager. This opportunity is primarily for the afternoon/night shift and involves conducting preventative and corrective maintenance of manufacturing equipment, troubleshooting automation and control systems, and installing or repairing equipment as needed.

Key Responsibilities

1. Install and improve electrical systems for machines and equipment, such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers, following electrical codes and drawings.
2. Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment and electrical devices, including transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, conveyors, and processing equipment.
3. Plan and execute advanced corrective and preventive maintenance, applying mechanical theories and principles.
4. Drive improvements in scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and enhance reliability.
5. Document daily activities accurately, including maintenance logs, downtime reports, work orders, preventive maintenance records, inventory slips, material requisitions, and work requests.
6. Ensure proper lubrication and inspection of all equipment checkpoints to maintain optimal performance and longevity.
7. Collaborate with other departments to ensure standards are met.
8. Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Electrical Red Seal certification is required.
2. Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing or industrial environment.
3. Strong experience with industrial electrical installation and maintenance.
4. Knowledge of PLC systems, industrial automation, and control systems is an advantage.
5. Proficiency with maintenance tools and diagnostic equipment.
6. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
7. Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work with cross-functional teams.

Physical Environment

1. Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly and perform tasks requiring kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting.
2. Comfortable working in temperature-controlled, refrigerated, or chilled environments.
3. Ability to stand for long periods.
