Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an Electrical Tester to perform testing and data collection on HVAC systems and related equipment. The role involves fabricating prototypes, building test fixtures, installing and maintaining test equipment, and delivering accurate test data and reports.

You will work with safety protocols, operate test cars, and ensure HVAC units pass functional tests while maintaining a clean workspace and timely updates to supervision.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tests of new components, assemblies, and systems, and comparison tests of competitive products based on test criteria; maintain records and report results.
• Prepare prototypes of components, assemblies and systems and ensure prototypes meet specifications.
• Perform inspections and installation of parts on test cars; maintain records of data collection.
• Build test fixtures to accelerate testing and correlate with field use.
• Safely wire up electrical connections using PPE and safety guidelines.
• Safely start, operate and shut down unit running functions.
• Ensure HVAC unit operates and passes functional tests per standards.
• Recognize and mitigate hazards during HVAC operation.
• Provide regular updates to supervisor on status, timelines, and issues.
• Execute and complete testing reports with accuracy for each unit.
• Operate machinery safely and maintain a neat workspace.
• Follow established tool and instrument control procedures.
