Job description

(Internal Title: CAD II)

Responsibilities:

1. Prepare Design Scope Clarifications and Design Scope Clarification Reports by communicating with the work order originators and stakeholders.
2. Extract existing drawings and conduct site surveys to determine existing conditions.
3. Prepare electrical designs, specifications, and CADD drawings using Microsoft Office, Bentley ProjectWise, and MicroStation systems.
4. Prepare documents and drawings in other formats, such as PDF, as required.
5. Perform duties as specified in Standard Operating Procedures and Standard Work Instructions to facilitate design delivery.
6. Co-ordinate design with other design disciplines and trades as required.
7. Assist the team in determining the requirements of Designated Substance Survey and Locate Reference drawings.
8. Carry out assigned field reviews to ensure that construction is in general compliance with Issued for Construction documents, Ontario Building Code, Electrical Safety Code, and in accordance with client requirements.
9. Review shop drawings and materials submissions.
10. Conduct independent studies and analysis of products, equipment, systems, and resolve design problems and construction issues by applying relevant engineering principles and standard practices.
11. Provide construction support and prepare site instructions.
12. Review as-built markups provided by the trades, confirming the installations, and prepare as-built drawings.
13. Survey existing facilities and prepare single line diagrams.
14. Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders.
15. Evaluate applicable project schedules, construction agreements, and project scope documentation to ensure accurate and visible property delineation.
16. Work with various CAD and GIS software and migrate to applicable formats.
17. Develop drawings and translate them into the applicable coordinate system.
