Job description

Job Summary

Working in a participative problem‑solving environment, responsible for all electrical and electronic aspects of the selection, installation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of production/packaging equipment. Tasks include troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, preventive maintenance, calibrations, updating documentation, and other GMP activities to ensure SISPQ and machine integrity.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement and maintain predictive and preventative maintenance programs and/or calibration programs on material handling/production/process/development equipment ensuring compliance with SISPQ.
  • Initiate and execute maintenance projects (e.g., OQ’s, electrical upgrades & improvements) to completion.
  • Install, repair and maintain electrical, electronic equipment, instrumentation, and computerised systems such as HMI, PCs, vision systems and network troubleshooting related to production machinery and systems. Must be able to perform work to CSA and ESA standards.
  • Use electrical testing equipment to diagnose problems.
  • Practice proactive maintenance and contribute to preventing downtime issues.
  • Provide training and coaching on equipment when necessary. Travel for training if required.
  • Take ownership and accountability for issues, working proactively to resolve them and maximize department goals of minimizing equipment downtime.
  • Communicate issues, follow‑up actions and/or resolutions clearly to peers, vendors, customers and supervisors, including during shift overlaps.
  • Be a team player and a positive contributor; suggest and implement ideas to improve the business.
  • Assist with mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Use SAP maintenance module to search history, create work orders and find parts, and ensure supporting documentation is prepared.
  • Create and modify drawings, P&ID’s and schematics when required.
  • Prepare and update standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and standard documents (SD’s).
  • Work safely and collaborate as a team member to achieve all outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with Ontario Electrical Safety Code, current GMP, GDP, and Apotex Inc. SOPs.

  • Perform all other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: Licensed in one or more of the following trades: Industrial Electrician (442A) or Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A). Current Master’s Electrical License or Electronics/Electro‑Mechanical Technician or Technologist Diploma is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical or consumer goods industry.
  • In‑depth knowledge and experience with PLC’s (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron, Klockner Muller, Toshiba).
  • Good knowledge of PC hardware and software. Use of Word, Excel, MS Project, etc. A+ Certification is an asset.
  • Strong communication, organisational and planning skills.
  • Proactive, self‑motivated and willing to participate in skill‑enhancement programmes.
  • Ability to work any shift, including weekends, as required.
Benefits and Compensation

Hiring range: $72,285 – $120,475 CAD per year, with final salary based on experience, knowledge and skills.
