Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical or consumer goods industry.
• Licensed in one or more trades: Industrial Mechanical, Machinist, Tool and Die, Industrial Electrician, Electro-Mechanical Controls.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanics, machine shop practices, electrical, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Knowledge of GMP as related to pharmaceuticals.
• Able to lead and train junior technicians; strong communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Packaging Supervisor to obtain resources and may supervise mechanics/electricians/contractors on site.
• Assist packaging technical coordinators in resolving technical service issues with internal customers.
• Mentor junior mechanics in training, troubleshooting, repair and rebuild of packaging machinery.
• Ensure work is performed in CGMP, SOPs and safety standards.
• Recommend changes to designs, drawings and modifications with engineering.

Job Summary

The Technician, Mechanical acts as a leading member of a team, working with other members in an attempt to reduce or eliminate non-value added activities or costs, while maintaining or improving quality, productivity, and timeliness throughout the project(s) being managed.

The Technician, Mechanical acts as a trainer to assist junior technicians to maintain, troubleshoot, set-up, plan, install and rebuild packaging and associated machinery.

Job Responsibilities

1. Work closely with Packaging Supervisor, to attain resources and at times perform site supervision of mechanics/electricians/contractors.
2. Assist Packaging Technical Coordinators/Supervisors in resolving technical service issues with internal customers, such as Operations, Quality, Engineering, etc., and formulates recommendations to resolve matters which are beyond existing SOPs.
3. Act as mentor / teacher to junior mechanics in training, troubleshooting, repair and rebuild of packaging and associated machinery.
4. Ensure that all work is performed in a full compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP’s), SOP’s and in accordance with established Safety Standards.
5. Recommend changes to designs, drawings and modifications of equipment or parts as required in conjunction with engineering and maintenance.
6. Keep abreast of all changes and advances in company policies and new technology.
7. Work independently with minimal supervision.
8. Possess an in-depth understanding of equipment enabling you to be a subject matter expert for the purpose of investigations, audits, training, or otherwise as required.
9. There may be the occasional requirement for some situational leadership opportunities for projects or troubleshooting exercises, as required
10. Works as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes.
11. Performs all work in support of our Corporate values of Pride, Accountability, Integrity and Diligence.
12. Performs all work in accordance with all established regulatory and compliance and safety requirements.
13. All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities & Experience

• Minimum 10 Years’ experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical or consumer goods industry
• Licensed in one or more of the following trades, Industrial Mechanical, Machinist, Tool and Die, Industrial Electrician, Electro-Mechanical Controls, or other technical certification
• In-depth knowledge of mechanics and machine shop practices
• In-depth knowledge of Electrical, Hydraulics and Pneumatics
• Knowledge of GMP, as related to pharmaceuticals
• Knowledge of Quick Change Over Techniques and PLC would be an asset
• Able to lead, collaborate with others
• Able to train and pass on knowledge to junior technicians
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Good analytical and presentation skills
• Proactive and self-motivated
• Able to work any shift, including evenings and weekends

The hiring range for this position is $72,284.85 to $101,198.79 per year. The final agreed-upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
