Job summary

York University’s Facilities Services seeks an Electrical Systems Manager to act as the institution’s SME for low, medium, and high voltage electrical distribution systems and associated building systems. The role provides technical leadership for planning, renewal, and development of electrical infrastructure to support capital projects and operations across the campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or 309A Licence is required.
• Experience with low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution.
• Knowledge of Ontario Electrical Safety Code and relevant standards.
• Experience in campus, utility, or large industrial environments.
• Ability to manage contracts, procurement, and capital renewal projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for planning, maintenance, renewal, and development of electrical infrastructure.
• Coordinate with electrical utilities and support service continuity.
• Oversee capital projects, renovations, and asset management initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and safety requirements.
• Lead contractor oversight, budgeting, and procurement processes.
