Electrical & Instrumentation Field Specialist/Engineer

We operate from Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto, providing design, procurement, construction management, and self-perform construction services nationwide.

We are seeking a qualified Electrical & Instrumentation Field Specialist/Engineer to join our Construction team based in Bethune, SK. The FE will ensure construction meets design intent, working with design teams, plant operations, the owner, and construction teams.

This role supports the K+S Potash Bethune Mine expansion project, aiming to increase capacity from 2.2 to 3.0 million tonnes per annum, with potential growth to 4 million tonnes. The position involves coordination from Saskatoon and Bethune, with additional support from Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto. Shift: Monday to Thursday, 10-hour days. Relocation assistance may be available.

  • Ensure conformance to design, quality control, and progress verification of construction work.
  • Review and disposition of submittals from subcontractors and coordinate inputs from various disciplines.
  • Support development of project procedures, including safety procedures for work near existing operations.
  • Facilitate coordination meetings among design, operations, and contractors.
  • Conduct field inspections, sign check sheets, and record findings.
  • Perform contractor quality surveillances and participate in progress, quality, and safety meetings.
  • Prepare field sketches and conduct walkdowns with stakeholders, initiating punch lists and verifying closure.
  • Review turnover documentation and endorse installed quantities.
  • Manage technical queries, change notices, and non-conformance reports, coordinating design changes with the Engineer of Record.
  • Maintain project data systems and review turnover documentation.
  • Verify maintenance and inspection activities for electrical & instrumentation components.
  • Participate in risk, constructability, and safety reviews.
  • Generate reports on electrical & instrumentation deliverables and project status.
  • Specify electrical criteria for temporary facilities.
  • Prioritize activities to meet project KPIs, complete training, and promote a collaborative culture.
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent, with 5-10 years of relevant experience. A Saskatchewan Professional Engineering license is an asset. Candidates should have strong quality management knowledge, excellent communication skills, troubleshooting abilities, and the capacity to foster an inclusive team environment.
