J.D. Irving, Limited is offering an Electrical Instrumentation and Controls Technician Student internship based in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Positions run from January to April 2027 and can extend to 4–8 months, providing hands-on industry experience and mentorship within the Construction & Equipment Division. Participants gain exposure to troubleshooting, programming, and maintenance of control equipment, with potential housing funding support for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma and enrolled in a 3-year Electrical, Controls and Technology program, in good academic standing.
• Problem-solving skills are required.
• Team player with interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in Electrical and Instrumentation trades in a safety-conscious environment.
• Assist in troubleshooting and programming in distributed controls (DCS) and programmable controllers (PLC).
• Support qualified tradespeople in day-to-day activities.
• Maintain and install control equipment.
• Contribute to preventative maintenance and process improvement.

Education

Responsibilities

• An optimal work experience in all aspects of the Electrical and Instrumentation trades in a safety-conscientious environment
• Assist in the troubleshooting and programming in distributed controls (DCS) and programmable controls (PLC)
• Students will assist qualified tradespeople in their day-to-day activities
• Maintain and installation of control equipment
• Preventative maintenance, continuous improvement and process improvement

Qualifications

• Education Required: High School Diploma, enrolled in a 3-year Electrical, Controls and Technology program and in good academic standing
• Available for full-time work from January to April 2027
• Problem-solving skills
• Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
• Manufacturing experience would be considered an asset
