THE COMPANY

MSCP provides highly innovative technical and organizational solutions for Heat Management in the Energy sector. It was founded in 2011 to assist the Oil and Gas Industry but it is rapidly expanding into Water Treatment and Renewables.

Our Heat Management System is rooted in the synchronization and coordination of a complex network of value-added activities that need to be tailored to the specific needs of increasingly quality-sensitive Clients.

To deliver prompt, reliable, and effective services, MSCP has embraced a genuinely systemic approach to management and an organizational model that overcomes completely the conventional Hierarchical/Functional, Siloed structure. Our System is designed and operated as a Network of interdependent processes and its effectiveness is entirely predicated on its correct management.

THE POSITION – ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Lead Estimator looks after all Estimating related activities at MSCP. The primary goal of this position is to ensure successful, safe, timely completion of Estimating work while also looking after the mentorship and advancement of employees in their node. The Lead Estimator manages the workflow and process while also providing superior customer service. They will have strong communication skills and proven technical knowledge.

  1. ESTIMATING AND BIDDING:
  • Develop comprehensive cost estimates for Heat Management projects, incorporating materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and scope of work to ensure precise and accurate estimates.
  • Analyze technical documentation, vendor quotations, and historical data to support competitive pricing strategies.
  • Collaborate with business development and project management teams to create compelling bids and proposals.
  • Participate in technical reviews to ensure alignment with project requirements and industry standards.
  • PROJECT ASSESSMENT AND PLANNING:
    • Conduct site visits as needed to assess project conditions and gather relevant data.
    • Identify potential risks, constraints, and opportunities that may impact project costs and timelines.
    • Provide input on project scheduling and resource allocation to enhance feasibility and efficiency.
    • Prepare preliminary Project Execution Plan outlining the major project activities and their requirements.
    • Interact with all nodes, touch points to ensure smooth turnover to Field Execution.
  • CLIENT AND VENDOR RELATIONS:
    • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and up-to-date product information.
    • Engage with clients to clarify project requirements and present detailed cost breakdowns as needed.
  • DOCUMENTATION AND REPORTING:
    • Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation of estimates, assumptions, and supporting data.
    • Generate clear and structured reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Track and analyze post-bid results to refine and enhance future estimating strategies.
  • COMPLIANCE AND STANDARDS:
    • Ensure all cost estimates align with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
    • Stay current with relevant electrical codes, best practices, and advancements in heat trace technology.
  • SHORT-TERM INITIATIVES:
    • Support quality and execution planning efforts.
    • Strengthen collaboration with engineering teams during the bidding phase, including heat loss calculations and design considerations.
    • Assist in the development of standardized Digital Work Package (DWP) templates.
    • Contribute to the creation of inspection checklists to enhance project oversight and compliance.
  • LONG-TERM STRATEGIC PROJECTS:
    • Update, expand, and improve catalog pricing to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
    • Identify and incorporate missing items and pre-configured kits into estimating tools.
    • Assist in the development of a comprehensive estimating strategy to drive continuous improvement.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    1. Red Seal Electrical Journeyman certification OR Electrical Engineer.
    2. Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of proven experience in electrical estimating.
    3. Technical Proficiency: Comprehensive understanding and application of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
    4. Communication Skills: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
    5. Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with estimating software (Bluebeam, Accubid, Revit) is considered a strong asset.
