Qualifications

  • bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • 4–8 years in maintenance and improvement of electrical systems or infrastructures in a production environment (underground/surface mining preferred).
  • eligible for registration with APEGS; Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng).
  • knowledge of electrical codes and standards, HV/LV installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability.
  • experience with generators, transformers, distribution systems, large motors, PLCs, MCC, switchgear and relays.
  • willingness to work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical engineering support and troubleshooting for mining and milling operations.
  • Investigate equipment failures and develop solutions to improve reliability and performance.
  • Lead electrical engineering projects: scope, cost estimates, specs, and design documentation.
  • Review and oversee work by consultants and internal teams.
  • Ensure designs comply with Cameco standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain asset reliability and drive continuous improvement of electrical infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and construction teams on CAPEX initiatives.

Application Information

In this role, you will:

  • Provide electrical engineering support and troubleshooting for mining and milling operations.
  • Investigate equipment and system failures and develop solutions to improve reliability and performance.
  • Lead and support electrical engineering projects, including scope development, cost estimates, specifications, and design documentation.
  • Review and provide technical oversight for work completed by consultants and internal engineering teams.
  • Ensure engineering designs and projects comply with Cameco standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Be responsible for asset reliability and continuous improvement activities related to electrical system infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and construction teams to plan and execute maintenance and capital improvement initiatives.

Required:

  • bachelors degree in electrical engineering;
  • four to eight years of experience in the field of maintenance and improvement of ---electrical systems or infrastructures in a production environment, preferably, underground and surface mining operations.
  • eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and -------Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS);professional Engineer designation (P. Eng);
  • knowledge in various aspects of electrical engineering, familiarity with applicable electrical codes and standards, high and medium voltage installations, electrical ---maintenance, troubleshooting, system improvement, operational reliability;
  • knowledge in generators, transformer and distribution system, large size motors, PLCs, sleds, MCC system, switchgears/breakers/relays and other electrical equipment; an
  • work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.
