Job summary

Cameco is seeking a geology professional to act as technical lead on drill programs, ensuring high quality geoscientific observations and interpretations in the field and in the office.

The role involves supervising exploration field operations, contractor oversight, mentoring staff, and handling drill core logging, sampling, and data interpretation with specialized software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology or related discipline.
  • Minimum four years relevant work experience.
  • Eligible for registration with APEGS.
  • Ability to work in remote locations for extended periods.
  • Digital literacy, proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical lead on projects, ensuring relevant geoscientific data and observations are collected from drill programs.
  • Ensure high quality geological observations and interpretations in the field and office.
  • Share oversight of exploration field operations including supervision of contractors and geological team members.
  • Oversee contractor management and safety, health, environment, and quality programs.
  • Mentor and train junior personnel.
  • Ensure geological data and observations are collected using specialized software and tools.
  • Be responsible for drill core logging and sampling, probing drill holes with geophysical tools, creating and maintaining cross sections, and other drill program duties.
  • Collaborate with the project team to produce high quality geological interpretations and oversight of exploration field operations.
  • Perform office-related activities such as data compilation and interpretation, and assist the project geologist with reporting requirements.

Application Information

In this role, you will:

  • Ensure relevant geological data and observations are accurately collected, using specialized software and tools.
  • Be responsible for drill core logging and sampling, probing drill holes with geophysical tools, creating and maintaining interpretive cross sections, handling drill core boxes, flagging the position of drill trails and drill holes, and other duties associated with drill programs as assigned.
  • Collaborate with the project team to produce high quality geological interpretations and share oversight of exploration field operations, including supervision of contractors and geological team members.
  • Perform office-related activities such as data compilation and interpretation, as well as assisting the project geologist with reporting requirements.
Required:
  • bachelors degree in geology or related discipline;
  • minimum four years relevant work experience;
  • eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS);
  • ability to work in remote locations for extended periods of time;
