Job summary

Torus Talent is seeking an Electrical Engineer (EIT) to join a growing power systems team on industrial, utility, and infrastructure projects in Western Canada. You will support design, commissioning, and documentation for HV, MV, and LV systems, under senior engineers.

Ideal candidates have 3–4 years of experience, a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, and EGBC-registered EIT working toward P.Eng. Travel ~10% for site visits and client meetings with mentorship toward professional registration.

Qualifications

  • 3-4 years of electrical engineering experience within industrial, utility, or infrastructure environments.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC), working toward P.Eng designation.
  • Exposure to designing or supporting industrial electrical systems, ideally including motor control centres (MCCs), balance of plant (BOP), or industrial power distribution.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standards, with a willingness to deepen this under senior guidance.
  • Some exposure to protection and control systems is an asset, but not required.
  • Interest in developing skills in engineering studies such as: Grounding studies; Short circuit analysis; Arc flash studies; Protection coordination; Power flow and load flow modelling; Lighting studies
  • Familiarity with ETAP, AutoCAD, PowerFactory, DIALux, PVsyst, SEL AcSELerator, ABB PCM600.
  • Exposure to industries such as mining, utilities, municipal infrastructure, water & wastewater, fish farming, agriculture, or greenhouses is a bonus but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, implementation, and commissioning of high-, medium-, and low-voltage (HV, MV & LV) AC/DC power systems, under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Assist in preparing engineering design packages, construction drawings, technical specifications, and tender documents.
  • Help develop equipment specifications and support procurement activities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to coordinate project scope and deliverables.
  • Contribute to client-facing work across design, construction, and commissioning phases, with mentorship from senior team members.
  • Take on increasing ownership of engineering studies as your experience grows.

Electrical Engineer (EIT), Power Systems

Our client is a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm that delivers innovative electrical engineering solutions for industrial, utility, renewable energy, and municipal infrastructure projects. Their team partners with clients across sectors including mining, forestry, pulp and paper, independent power production, water and wastewater, municipalities, agriculture, fish farming, and utilities.

As the company continues to grow, they are looking for an Electrical Engineer (EIT) with 3-4 years of experience to join their power systems team. This is an opportunity to build hands‑on technical experience across the full project lifecycle - from concept through commissioning - while working alongside senior engineers who can support your path toward P. Eng registration.

Approximately 10% travel is required for site visits, commissioning, and client meetings.

What You'll Be Doing

What We're Looking For
  • We're looking for a motivated engineer building a career in industrial power systems. Ideal candidates will have:
  • 3-4 years of electrical engineering experience within industrial, utility, or infrastructure environments.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC), working toward P.Eng designation.
