Partner Staffing, on behalf of our client, is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design and implementation for commercial, industrial, residential, and institutional building projects across Alberta. The successful candidate will bring extensive expertise in electrical systems design, project management, and client collaboration. This role involves mentoring junior engineers, ensuring compliance with Alberta Building Codes, and delivering sustainable, energy-efficient solutions for mixed-use and commercial properties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the electrical design process for commercial building projects, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, and communication systems.
  • Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and construction teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
  • Review and approve single-line diagrams (SLDs), panel schedules, and load calculations.
  • Develop and oversee construction documentation, including detailed electrical layouts, specifications, and material selection.
  • Ensure compliance with the Alberta Building Code, CSA standards, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project progress and troubleshoot issues during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and EITs, providing technical guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Drive innovation by integrating energy-efficient designs and renewable energy systems into projects.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing project needs and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; P.Eng. designation with APEGA or eligibility for registration.
  • 6+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on commercial building projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical modeling software.
  • Deep knowledge of Alberta Building Codes, CSA standards, and energy codes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing lighting systems, power distribution networks, and building automation.
  • Experience with green building certifications (LEED, WELL, etc.) is an asset.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
