Job summary

Ausenco in Canada is seeking an Electrical Package Engineer to oversee major electrical packages, including design and interfaces with grounding layouts and cable schedules. The role involves coordinating with departments and suppliers, plus field support and commissioning.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, P.Eng eligibility, and 5+ years of EPCM experience in a heavy industrial setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems: single lines, grounding layouts, cable schedules and wiring diagrams.
• Clarifications, interfaces, and cost estimates for major electrical packages.
• Consult with departments, suppliers, and contractors to clarify specs.
• Evaluate supplier proposals and deliverables; prepare technical reports and tender docs.
• Ensure QA/QC compliance; timely, high-quality deliverables; mentor junior staff.

About The Role

• Electrical Package Engineer for several packages including all clarifications and interfaces; this is for major electrical packages
• Designing the following: single lines, grounding layouts, cable tray direction, power layouts, cable schedule, wiring diagrams for P&C, etc.
• Recommend changes in plans and specify estimated costs.
• Consult with other departments, suppliers and contractors to clarify specifications.
• Evaluate supplier’s proposals and deliverable documentation.
• Help prepare technical reports, tender documentation and field support (including commissioning/site inspection).
• Ensure that engineering deliverables (e.g., drawings, specifications, analysis, budget estimates) comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures and sound engineering practices.
• Review drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and project documentation in accordance with QA/QC programs.
• Ensure that project deliverables are met in a timely manner to a high-quality.
• Direct and mentor junior staff.

About You

• Recognized undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Registered as a P.Eng. or eligibility to do so
• 5+ years’ experience in design of electrical systems within an EPCM in a heavy industrial environment. Mining experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code is a must, and familiarity with international standards is advantageous.
• Experience with building electrical systems, such as, fire alarms, security, lighting & communications, fibre network, and data network will be an asset.
• Familiarity with power system study software such as ETAP, SKM, or Easy Power will be an asset.
• Construction site service experience & working directly with client is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, planning and organizing abilities with excellent interpersonal skills.
• A strong team player with the ability to work independently.

Salary range: $100,000 - $120,000 annually
