Job summary

CIMA+ is seeking an Electrical Drafter/Designer to join the Infrastructure group in Vancouver. You will contribute to electrical power distribution and I&C design across diverse projects, including mine sites, with field visits and collaboration with engineers.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, experience with AutoCAD, and a willingness to work in a multidisciplinary team within a hybrid work model. Excellent communication and a driver’s license are valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, technologist diploma, or drafting certificate.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and power distribution design, including I&C
  • Knowledge of site work and multidisciplinary project engineering within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to learn and grow in engineering.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for site visits.
  • Integrity, team spirit, and commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary design team under the Project Manager and Lead Electrical Engineer.
  • Assist in developing electrical power distribution designs: single-line diagrams, site power layouts, lighting, and power distribution plans.
  • Support I&C designs for SCADA systems, including control panels, P&IDs, and network diagrams.
  • Prepare designs, calculations, plans, specs, and reports for industrial facilities, focusing on power distribution and life safety.
  • Participate in fieldwork and site visits, assisting with investigations and reviews of distribution and I&C shop drawings.

We are currently looking for an Electrical Drafter/Designer to join our growing Infrastructure group in Vancouver. This role offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team, contributing to a variety of projects across. This role will be based in our Vancouver office.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary design team, working under the guidance of the Project Manager and Lead Electrical Engineer.
  • Assist in the development of electrical power distribution system designs, including single-line diagrams, site power layouts, overcurrent protection, emergency power generation, lighting layouts, and power distribution plans.
  • Support the development of Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) designs for SCADA systems, including control panels, P&IDs, process control narratives, I/O lists, instrument selections, network diagrams, and communication panels.
  • Assist in preparing designs, calculations, plans, specifications, calculations, and reports for industrial facilities, particularly for mine sites, focusing on power distribution, motor controls, lighting, communications, and security systems.
  • Participate in fieldwork and site visits, assisting with investigations, studies, inspections, and reviews of electrical distribution and I&C shop drawings, as well as life safety and communications systems.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, technologist diploma, or drafting certificate.
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • New Graduate and/or 1-3 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Knowledgeable of electrical power distribution systems and I&C designs.
  • Familiarity with site work, detailed design, and project engineering within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication skills and a desire to learn and grow within the engineering field.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for site visits.
