Qualifications

• University degree in engineering, electrical or renewable energy, preferred.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Canada is an asset.
• Over 10 years of experience with 5+ years in transportation electrification, renewable energy, or related fields.
• Experience managing utility interconnection applications and SIS studies is an asset.
• Fluent in English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Mentor local engineering team and guide delivery packages.
• Lead renewable energy design and project delivery across Western Canada.
• Design and evaluate behind-the-meter BESS installations.
• Develop HV interconnection packages and sizing.
• Conduct studies and provide analyses; oversee design and construction.
• Engage with clients and utilities; lead technical meetings.
• Perform site visits for assessment and commissioning.

Are you a leader passionate about transportation electrification and renewable energy? This is an opportunity to get involved in a dynamic and growing team and to leverage your talent in technical skills and project delivery across various scopes.The successful candidate will lead, design and execute projects with support from various CIMA disciplines.

Primary Responsibilities

• Mentor local engineering team and provide guidance to assemble deliverable packages for different types of delivery models
• Contribute to and manage technical design related to renewable energy (Solar, Wind, BESS, Microgrid) and fleet & personal vehicle electrification projects across Western Canada
• Design and evaluate behind-the-meter Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
• Develop high-voltage (HV) utility interconnection packages, including Protection & Control (P&C) coordination, single-line diagrams, and primary service entrance sizing.
• Apply best practices and identify innovative solutions; carry out engineering analyses, studies, design and construction oversight
• Have expertise to undertake various studies such as arc flash, load flow, short circuit, grounding, Protection & Control (P&C) relay coordination, etc.
• Liaise with clients, local Utilities, project team members, cross-sector colleagues and other stakeholders regarding project requirements
• Attend, participate in, and lead client technical meetings
• Perform site visits for assessment, inspections, construction support and commissioning for projects.
• Manage budget, schedule and quality of the projects
• Training and knowledge transfer follow-up
• Working proficiency with various engineering software:
• Power Systems Analysis - ETAP, EasyPower, PSSE/PSCAD
• Design/Layout - AutoCAD, MicroStation, PVsyst
• Respond to RFPs, participate in and prepare proposals and support business development

Qualifications

• University Degree in Engineering, Electrical or Renewable Energy engineering preferred.
• Registered member of a Professional Engineering association in Canada
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the USA is an asset.
• Over 10 years of experience, with 5 years of relevant experience in the field of transportation electrification, renewable energy, mining, manufacturing, and/or building electricity.
• Demonstrated experience managing utility interconnection applications for load or generator connections and involvement in utility System Impact Studies (SIS) is an asset.
• Interpersonal skills that encourage and foster teamwork, great technical skills for writing studies and reports, and managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Passionate about Energy Transition and other Renewable Energy Technologies
• Familiarity with policies, standards, guidelines, rules and regulations as applicable to North American energy markets will be an added advantage
• Fluent in English; oral and written
• Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence
