Job summary

SearchLabs in Markham is seeking an Electrical Designer/Engineer (Buildings) to support building projects across healthcare, residential, institutional, commercial and industrial sectors. You will join a collaborative team delivering high-quality electrical design solutions for complex built-environment projects.

You will lead design activities, mentor staff, ensure coding and safety standards are followed, and help manage projects from schematic design to construction documents.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience in the electrical consulting field.
• Professional engineering designation or eligibility for licensure.
• Experience in Healthcare, Residential, Institutional, Commercial, and Industrial sectors.
• Ability to lead & manage new construction, renovation and electrical system upgrades.
• Knowledge of building, electrical, fire safety standards and codes.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD experience required; REVIT MEP proficiency desired.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the electrical principal and works independently on projects from start to completion.
• Lead design activities and mentor design staff on all aspects of their work.
• Responsible for meeting engineering quality standards on assigned projects.
• Oversees development of design concepts and ensures proper application and execution.
• Reviews designer’s work regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
• Apply risk management practices to all projects.
• Leads the design team to produce schematic design, design development, tender and construction documents.
• Construction management including shop drawing review and site visits.
• Writes, studies and reports on electrical system work.

An engineering and design organization is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support building projects across a range of sectors. The successful candidate will join a collaborative technical team focused on delivering high-quality electrical design solutions for complex built-environment projects.

Role Summary - Electrical Designer/Engineer (Buildings)

In this role, you will be part of a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing team within a buildings practice. The successful applicant will contribute to a diverse engineering group with ongoing growth opportunities and a strong pipeline of building-related projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Reports to the electrical principal and works independently with minimal supervision on projects from start to completion.
• Able to lead the design activities and mentor design staff on all aspects of their work.
• Responsible for meeting engineering quality standards on assigned projects.
• Oversees development of design concepts and ensures proper application and execution.
• Reviews designer’s work regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
• Responsible for applying risk management practices to all projects.
• Leads the design team to produce schematic design, design development, tender and construction documents that meet the project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget.
• Construction management including, but not limited to shop drawing review, progress drawing review, quotation review, prepare CCN/SI, conduct site visits, etc.
• Writes, studies and reports on electrical system work.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in the Electrical consulting field.
• Professional engineering designation or eligibility for licensure is required.
• Experienced in Multi-sector - Healthcare, Residential, Institutional, Commercial, and Industrial sectors of electrical consulting.
• Capable to lead & manage new construction, renovation and electrical system upgrade projects.
• Knowledge of applicable building, electrical, fire safety, and industry standards and codes.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) products and electrical design software.
• Auto CAD experience required and REVIT MEP proficiency desired.

Compensation Transparency

The expected compensation range for this role is $80 000 – $100 000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
