Paralynx Engineering is hiring an electrical engineer | designer for the building and construction industry. You'll play an integral part in designing and powering up a wide array of projects. See the wineries, restaurants, hotels, offices, gyms, car dealerships, and other projects where you played an essential role in getting them open and serving the community.

About the Company and Location

Paralynx Engineering is a small consulting firm that designs electrical solutions for buildings and projects throughout the communities where we work and play. We work collaboratively with other disciplines, and enjoy a friendly, respectful, and helpful work environment.

The Role

As an electrical designer, you will be responsible for ensuring that designs are accurate, thorough, and meet specifications. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing electrical systems on a variety of commercial, industrial, and multi-unit residential projects;
  • Directly interfacing with clients and stakeholders, and providing construction support;
  • Creating life safety systems;
  • Preparing technical reports and specifications;
  • Other related tasks.

Paralynx is seeking someone who is self-motivated, highly-focused, and able to multi-task effectively, with great analytical skills. Candidates must be comfortable interacting with other disciplines and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Great communication skills are a must.

The salary range for this role is $57,000 to $75,000 and is based on factors including experience in the industry, skill sets, and certifications. It may further be modified by a candidate's unique profile. Paralynx offers an annual health care spending account at no cost to the employee, a per-km compensation for site visits, and a flexible start time each day. There is potential to earn both individual performance and company bonuses.

This position is located on-site in our office in Kelowna.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or a diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
  • (Preferred) Minimum E.I.T. designation with EGBC, or another Canadian licensing body.
  • 1 to 4 years of direct, industry experience designing electrical distribution systems, lighting, and life safety systems for buildings.
  • Detail-oriented with high degree of consistency.
  • The ability to constructively participate in meetings.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian building codes, utility companies and energy codes.
  • Motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong team player, with experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Client-focused, with the ability to communicate clearly with clients and provide appropriate support through all phases of the design and construction process.
  • Efficient and knowledgeable in the use of AutoCAD & Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Revit, Dialux, and AGI32 a plus.

Traits required to be successful in this role include:

  • Excellent English-language communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Organized, disciplined, and flexible, able to prioritize and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to think on your feet.
  • Capable of looking ahead to identify potential opportunities and/or issues with specifications or design.
  • Good leadership skills.
  • Superb collaboration skills with people of diverse backgrounds and personalities; respectful, tactful, and able to work effectively in a team environment.

Occasional travel is necessary for meetings and site visits. A current Canadian driver's license is required, as well as a reliable vehicle.
