Job Description

EXP is searching for an Electrical Designer (Buildings) to join our Mechanical/Electrical team at our Calgary, AB office. The successful applicant will be joining a diverse engineering group in Western Canada poised for growth and challenging opportunities well into the future.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for meeting the firm’s engineering quality levels for discipline on assigned projects.
• Develop the Basis of Design (BOD), Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), and Construction Documents (CD) that meet project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget and use best practices.
• Develop design concepts and ensure proper application and execution.
• Act as the single point of contact with client project managers for project scope definition, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Verify work quality regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
• Have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all required aspects of discipline engineering.
• Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
• Mentor and encourage development of Designer level staff.
• Write studies and reports on electrical system work.
• Contribute to revisions of EXP’s design standards and master specifications.
• Apply risk management practices to all projects.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in the Electrical Engineering field.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent degree.
• EIT required and working towards Professional Engineering license.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) and electrical design software.
• AutoCAD experience required; REVIT MEP proficiency desired.
