Job summary

CAN-ENG Furnaces International Ltd. in Niagara Falls, Ontario invites an Electrical Engineering Project Leader - Designer to join our design team. You will assist senior engineers by preparing and checking drawings for automation equipment, power distribution and control panel interconnections.

The role involves selecting VFDs, process controllers and sensors, reviewing datasheets, and contributing to specification writing and quotations. Occasional travel to installations may be required.

Responsibilities

Job description

CAN-ENG is a vibrant, medium-size Canadian company located in Niagara Falls Ontario with an international reputation for the design and manufacture of thermal processing equipment and associated material handling devices. To maintain our continued growth, werequire additional staff in key positions.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING PROJECT LEADER - DESIGNER

Successful candidates must be able to work alongside our senior electrical and mechanical design team members to assist in the completion of projects and tasks as required. Being able to apply one’s formal education and learn new concepts is key.

Project tasks you will be exposed to include:

• Preparation and checking of engineering system drawings as they relate to automation systems and industrial equipment – power distribution, single line diagrams, bills of materials, control panel layouts and system interconnections.
• Familiarity with CAD design software such as Eplan (preferred), AutoCAD / AutoCAD electrical
• Canadian and or American Electrical Codes
• Reviewing component data sheets, controls documentation and manuals
• Variable Frequency Drive selection / integration; process controllers, field sensor selection / integration.
• Specification writing, quotation procurement and material demand releases
• Sub-contractor liaison and report writing
• PLC / HMI selection with hardware integration; programming opportunities may exist.
• Project planning / scheduling and deadlines

Applicants should be willing to work within both our engineering office environment as well as on our manufacturing plant floor (hands on) as needed.Some travel (domestic and foreign) may be required at times to assist with equipment installation and commissioning at various customer locations.

Qualifications for the position are:

• Graduate in one of: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a three-year Engineering Technology diploma
