Job summary

WSP is seeking an Electrical and Controls Designer to join the Energy & Process team across Canada. You will review P&IDs, generate complete electrical drawing packages, specify single-line diagrams, schematics, lighting design, control panels and heat trace, and support RFQs and vendor packages.

You will collaborate with mechanical, process, civil, and structural teams to deliver integrated, future-ready energy projects.

Qualifications

• A technical diploma in electrical engineering technology from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• 5+ years of hands-on electrical design experience, ideally in consulting or EPC environments.
• Experience supporting Power Generation Projects is required.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; 3D CAD tools are an advantage.
• Detail-oriented, solutions-focused, and able to collaborate in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment.
• Desire to contribute to climate adaptation, decarbonization, and resilient energy systems.

Responsibilities

• Review P&IDs and transform them into clear electrical drawings and specifications.
• Generate complete electrical drawing packages for approval, bid and construction, including single-line diagrams, schematics, lighting design, control panels, and heat trace.
• Apply standards to evaluate RFQs, quotations, purchase orders, and electrical contract documents.
• Mark up vendor package/skid drawings to meet project specifications and ensure interdisciplinary integration.
• Provide practical wiring details and technical guidance to electrical contractors in the field.
• Offer responsive field support during construction to resolve issues quickly and safely.
• Coordinate with mechanical, process, civil, structural teams to achieve project goals.
• Prepare requisitions, review BOMs, and contribute to high-quality deliverables.
