Job summary

WSP Canada invites an Electrical and Controls Designer to join the Energy & Process team, helping shape energy systems across Canada. The role collaborates with multidisciplinary experts to deliver future-ready projects, from low-carbon initiatives to major facility design, nationwide.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in electrical design, ideally within consulting or EPC environments.
• Experience supporting Power Generation Projects is required.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; 3D CADD tools are an advantage.
• Detail-oriented, solutions-focused mindset with ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Review P&IDs and transform them into clear, accurate electrical drawings and specifications.
• Generate complete electrical drawing packages for approval, bid, and construction, including single-line diagrams, schematics, lighting design, control panel details, heat trace design.
• Apply engineering and construction standards to evaluate RFQs, quotations, purchase orders, and electrical contract documents.
• Mark up vendor package/skid drawings to meet project specifications and ensure integration across disciplines.
• Provide practical wiring details and technical guidance to support electrical contractors in the field.
• Offer responsive field support during construction to resolve issues quickly and safely.
• Coordinate with mechanical, process, civil, structural and other teams to achieve project goals.
• Prepare requisitions, review BOMs, and contribute to high-quality deliverables.
