Job summary

WSP is seeking an Electrical and Controls Designer to shape energy systems across Canada. You will join the Process & Energy Electrical Group and collaborate with multidisciplinary experts to deliver future-ready projects.

The role supports energy transition, sustainability, and resilient infrastructure, with flexibility to base in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, or Atlantic provinces. It requires 5+ years of experience and expertise in electrical design within consulting or EPC contexts.

Qualifications

• Must have 5+ years of hands-on electrical design experience.
• Experience with Power Generation Projects is required.
• Experience in consulting or EPC environments is preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; 3D CAD tools are a plus.
• Detail-oriented and collaborative in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary setting.
• Desire to contribute to climate adaptation and decarbonization of energy systems.

Responsibilities

• Review P&IDs and transform them into electrical drawings and specs.
• Generate complete electrical drawing packages for approval, bid, and construction.
• Evaluate RFQs, quotations, purchase orders, and electrical contract documents.
• Mark up vendor package/skid drawings to meet project specs.
• Provide wiring details and guidance to electricians in the field.
• Offer field support during construction to resolve issues quickly and safely.
• Coordinate with mechanical, process, civil and other teams to meet goals.
• Prepare requisitions, review BOMs, and contribute to deliverables.
