Job description

About the Project

The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension will bring the Eglinton Crosstown LRT another 9.2 kilometers farther west, creating a continuous rapid transit line from the east end of Toronto into Mississauga. The Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) package encompasses the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of key project components.

Position Overview

The Electrical Project Manager is responsible for the end‑to‑end delivery of electrical infrastructure for one or more transit stations delivered by Trillium Rail Partners within a progressive design‑build environment. The role ensures that station electrical systems—including power distribution, emergency power, lighting, grounding, communications interfaces, and traction power interfaces—are fully integrated into the broader rail and systems architecture including Stations, Rail & Systems (SRS), Traction Power Substations (TPSS), and Advanced Train Control (ATC) interfaces. The position is accountable for technical coordination, electrical systems integration, constructability, and performance compliance from design development through commissioning and revenue service readiness.

Key Responsibilities
Delivery, Leadership & Systems Integration
  • Manage the end‑to‑end delivery of station electrical infrastructure including power distribution systems, lighting, emergency power systems, grounding and bonding, and electrical interfaces with station mechanical systems.
  • Manage and mentor a team of project coordinators, field staff, consultants, and subcontractors responsible for electrical works.
  • Ensure full integration of electrical infrastructure with line‑wide rail and systems including Stations, Rail & Systems (SRS), Traction Power Substations (TPSS), Emergency Exit Buildings (EEBs), and Advanced Train Control (ATC) handovers.
  • Coordinate closely with mechanical, architectural, civil, structural, and rail systems teams to ensure electrical infrastructure is fully integrated into station design and construction.
  • Manage electrical interfaces with mechanical systems including ventilation equipment, pumps, and fire life safety systems.
Technical Coordination & Oversight
  • Coordinate electrical system design development through construction to ensure constructability and operational performance.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary BIM coordination (Revit/Navisworks) to resolve spatial conflicts within constrained station environments.
  • Review and coordinate electrical shop drawings, technical submissions, method statements, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Ensure compliance with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, Ontario Building Code, NFPA 130, and project performance specifications.
Planning, Controls & Commercial Management
  • Develop and monitor electrical construction schedules, budgets, forecasts, and risk registers aligned with overall station milestones.
  • Support procurement and delivery of long‑lead electrical equipment such as switchgear, transformers, generators, and distribution panels.
  • Review and manage variations, delay claims, and entitlement matters related to electrical scope and system interfaces.
  • Validate subcontractor payment applications against contractual milestones and installation progress.
Construction Execution, Subcontractor & Supplier Management, Testing & Turnover
  • Manage field execution of station electrical works including installation of power distribution systems, lighting, grounding, electrical rooms, and equipment connections.
  • Manage electrical subcontractors and suppliers to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and schedule requirements.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, resolve field issues, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate installation sequencing with station construction teams, rail systems teams, and other trades.
  • Enforce compliance with the project Integrated Management System, safety protocols, and quality assurance processes.
  • Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) for electrical systems.
  • Support commissioning activities and ensure completion of as‑built documentation, O&M manuals, and turnover packages required for revenue service readiness.
Qualifications
  • Preferred 7+ years of progressive experience in electrical construction within ICI, heavy civil, or transit infrastructure projects.
  • Experience delivering electrical infrastructure within complex station or facility environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline; equivalent trade certification and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of power distribution systems, electrical installation practices, and electrical codes applicable to transit infrastructure.
  • Experience coordinating electrical systems with mechanical, architectural, and rail systems interfaces.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with emphasis on safety, quality, and schedule performance.
  • Experience working in collaborative delivery models involving multiple contractors and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities within complex, schedule‑driven construction environments.
