Job description

About The Project

The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension will bring the Eglinton Crosstown LRT another 9.2 kilometers farther west, creating a continuous rapid transit line from the east end of Toronto into Mississauga. The Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) package encompasses the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of key project components.

Position Overview

The Architectural Construction Project Manager is responsible for the end‑to‑end delivery of architectural scope across transit stations and associated facilities as part of a major rail infrastructure project delivered by Trillium Rail Partners (TRP). This role oversees all architectural construction activities including interior and exterior finishes, building envelope systems, passenger areas, back‑of‑house spaces, and ancillary structures, ensuring high‑quality execution aligned with design intent, operational requirements, and passenger experience standards. Working within a complex design‑build environment, the role leads coordination between architectural design teams, construction teams, and MEP/rail systems stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and delivery from construction through commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the full lifecycle delivery of architectural scope across one or more stations or facilities, from construction through commissioning and handover.
  • Manage and mentor a team of coordinators, superintendents, and field staff responsible for architectural works.
  • Ensure alignment of architectural construction activities with overall project schedule and milestones.
  • Oversee construction of architectural elements including:
    • Interior finishes (walls, ceilings, flooring, glazing, millwork)
    • Exterior façade and cladding systems
    • Roofing and waterproofing systems
    • Doors, frames, hardware, and access control interfaces
    • Passenger‑facing areas and circulation spaces
  • Ensure architectural works meet durability, maintainability, and passenger experience requirements.
  • Coordinate architectural scope with structural works, mechanical and electrical systems (HVAC, lighting, fire life safety, etc.), and rail systems and station operational requirements.
  • Ensure alignment between architectural finishes and embedded systems such as lighting, communications, and signage.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day execution of architectural construction activities.
  • Conduct site inspections, mock‑up reviews, and coordination meetings.
  • Manage sequencing and installation in constrained station environments.
  • Resolve field issues, deficiencies, and constructability challenges.
  • Develop and manage schedules, budgets, and forecasts for architectural scope.
  • Monitor progress and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule performance.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, performance, and contractual compliance.
  • Review and manage change orders, variations, and claims related to architectural works.
  • Ensure architectural works comply with building codes, accessibility standards, fire/life safety requirements, and project specifications.
  • Enforce quality control processes including inspections, mock‑ups, and material approvals.
  • Promote safe work practices across all architectural construction activities.
  • Support integration of architectural scope during testing and commissioning phases.
  • Oversee completion of deficiencies, punch lists, and close‑out activities.
  • Ensure preparation and delivery of as‑built drawings, finishes schedules, and O&M manuals.
  • Support readiness for station handover and revenue service.
  • Interface with designers, consultants, project partners, and stakeholders.
  • Support coordination with authorities having jurisdiction and client representatives.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations related to architectural finishes and public‑facing elements.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience (10+ years preferred) managing architectural construction scope on large infrastructure or building projects.
  • Experience delivering complex stations, public facilities, or high‑profile architectural environments is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of design‑build and/or P3 project delivery models.
  • Experience managing finishes‑heavy scopes and multiple subcontractors.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Deep understanding of architectural materials, detailing, and installation practices.
  • Ability to coordinate complex interfaces between architectural scope and building systems.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and commercial management capabilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and documentation systems (e.g., MS Office, Bluebeam, BIM tools).
  • Safety‑focused, organized, and results‑driven mindset.
