Job summary

Eaton Corporation in Milton, Ontario is seeking an Electrical Assembler (AFT) to wire and assemble control panels for engineered-to-order switchboards. Candidates should have at least 12 months of full-time wiring experience and be able to read wiring diagrams.

Qualifications

  • Experience using Outlook, ADP, Oracle and Inventor.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing processes (Kanban, 5S+, MRB) and Six Sigma Tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build and wire control panels using one-line diagrams and customer drawing packages.
  • Determine how to run, connect and terminate wires for electrical devices on wiring pans and inside switchboard structures.
  • Identify design issues and raise them through the correct channels.
  • Perform functional tests such as continuity checks and wire pull tests.
  • Repair or rework issues detected during inspection/testing.

The hourly rate for this position is $23-$27 per hour. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

The hours for this position are 3:30 pm - 12:00 AM.

What you’ll do:

Reporting to the Production Manager – Custom Switchboard, this role is responsible for wiring control panels for engineered-to-order switchboards. Candidates must have at least 1 year of experience in roles where wiring was the primary responsibility.

This role is not a fit for those who have never wired in a full-time capacity, have only wired using harnesses or following point to point diagrams, or have only wired when installing, maintaining or servicing commercial or residential electrical systems.

  • Build and wire control panels using one-line diagrams and customer drawing packages.
  • Determine how and where to run, connect and terminate wires for electrical devices on wiring pans and inside switchboard structures. (Common devices include breakers, meters, relays, sensors, PLCs, switches, CTs, sensors)
  • Identify design issues and raise them through the correct channels.
  • Perform functional tests such as continuity checks and wire pull tests.
  • Repair or rework issues detected during the inspection/test stage of the job.
Position Criteria:
  • Proven aptitude for complex wiring work.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English effectively.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Able to visualize and plan the layout of a wiring control panel using ladder logic.
  • Excellent attitude towards quality, safety, continuous improvement and teamwork.
  • Functional with computers, in order to use a variety of digital business tools (email, ADP, electronic models, eLearning modules).
