Electrical and Instrumentation Technician – Mid-level

Join us as an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician – Mid-level at Georgia Pacific.

Overview

Georgia-Pacific, LLC is seeking a talented Electrical and Instrumentation Technician to join our Big Island, Virginia team. We are a leading manufacturer of corrugated boxes and specialty packaging products. This is a full-time role offering competitive pay, benefits, 401(k), and quarterly bonuses.

Work Schedule & Testing

Work hours are 6:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Thursday, with potential overtime, weekends, and holidays. Qualified candidates will complete computer-based and hands-on tests and participate in interviews.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems, interpret wiring schematics
• Apply knowledge of instrumentation principles (Pressure, Level, Flow, Temperature)
• Support projects as Journeyman E&I technician
• Work with PLC platforms (Rockwell PLC 5 and Control Logix), edit and troubleshoot programs
• Handle switchgear and breaker racking hazards (480V-12,470V)
• Understand motor types (Induction, Synchronous, Wound Rotor, DC)
• Complete NCCER electrical program at CVCC
• Work at heights and in various industrial environments
• Perform physical tasks (lifting, climbing, standing) for extended periods

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills (email, internet)
• Qualified applicants must have:
• Journeyman Electrician card; or
• Associate degree or higher in relevant fields; or
• At least 3 years of related experience (military, apprenticeship, coursework)

Preferred Qualifications

• Paper mill experience
• Experience with PLCs, VFD troubleshooting, digital control valves, ethernet networks, process instrumentation
