Job summary

Robertson College in Edmonton is seeking Practicum Observers to oversee and support students in ELC placements, assess progress, and ensure a positive practicum experience.

You bring at least 5 years in child care leadership, ECE III, strong organizational and communication skills, and availability days, evenings and weekends for in-person placements at multiple Alberta sites.

Contract role with hourly pay and opportunities to mentor students and collaborate with staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as Director, Assistant Director, or in child care management.
• ECE III certification required.
• Teaching experience or Instructor’s certificate is an asset.
• Strong creative thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to motivate students and work with diverse populations.
• Reliable, punctual, approachable, and flexible (days/evenings/weekends).

Responsibilities

• Oversee and mentor students in ELC practicums.
• Support a positive learning environment for practicum duties.
• Monitor and assess student progress during practicum.
• Complete weekly reports on students and their development.
• Provide feedback on strengths and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with staff to finalize student evaluations.
• Assist with completing practicum checklists and documentation.
• Review final evaluations with each student.
• Document daily performance in the computer-based system.
