Job summary

MaKami College in Alberta is seeking an experienced practicum instructor to teach and mentor students across Early Learning and Child Care programs. You will lead practicum content, conduct site visits to licensed centres, and provide feedback to support student success.

You will collaborate with the Practicum Coordinator to align learning outcomes with provincial standards, develop instructional materials, and help coordinate orientation and debrief sessions for learners in person at Edmonton

Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Early Learning and Child Care, Education, or equivalent.
Alberta Government ECE Level 3 certification.
Adult Education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Teach practicum content and facilitate workshops to support practicum completion.
Support online practicum course content and guidance during placement.
Conduct site visits to licensed child care centres to observe student performance and build relationships with hosts.
Provide ongoing, constructive feedback and mentorship to students, including virtual check-ins as needed.
Collaborate with the Practicum Coordinator to address any student or site-related concerns promptly.
Document student progress and participate in the evaluation process, including grading practicum assignments.
Ensure that practicum learning outcomes are achieved in alignment with curriculum objectives and provincial standards.
Develop and update instructional materials related to practicum preparation and completion.
Participate in curriculum review meetings and contribute to enhancements of practicum course content.
Assist in coordinating orientation and debrief sessions for practicum students to reinforce learning and gather feedback.

Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Early Learning and Child Care, Education, or equivalent experience
Minimum Alberta Government ECE Level 3 certification
Qualification related to Adult Education preferred

Experience

Minimum 2-5 years of experience in teaching or mentoring students in early learning and child care programs
Experience conducting site visits and student assessments in practicum or field placement settings
Knowledge of ELCC practicum standards, licensing, and certification processes
Experience providing constructive feedback and supporting student success during practical learning experiences
Experience working collaboratively with educational staff and external partners
Background in documenting and evaluating student progress in alignment with learning outcomes
