Job summary

MillerKnoll is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) professional to lead and coordinate site-wide EHS programs in Ontario. The role focuses on policy implementation, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of safety processes.

The successful candidate will develop training, maintain documentation, and drive corrective actions while collaborating with operations and support teams to meet ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in EH&S or related field required.
  • CRST certification is a plus/asset.
  • 5-8 years of professional EH&S experience; 10-12 years without degree depending on education level.

Responsibilities

  • Support EHS management in implementing corporate policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Lead site safety programs, incident investigations and training.
  • Ensure OHSA compliance with applicable regulations and internal standards.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies (e.g., MLITSD, WSIB) on behalf of the site.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve health, safety, environmental, and ergonomics programs and documentation.
  • Coordinate audits, inspections, and action plans; track metrics and improve performance.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Ensures that environmental health and safety (EH&S) system requirements are established, implemented and maintained with conformance to the MillerKnoll EH&S managements systems and goals. Provide EH&S leadership, coaching and technical support for corporate or facility-based assignments and projects.

Essential Functions
  • Support EHS management in ensuring the consistent implementation of corporate EHS policies, procedures, and standards across the organization.
  • Facilitate the achievement of corporate and site-specific environmental, health, safety, and ergonomics objectives through site-based assignments and corporate initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), applicable regulations, federal and provincial requirements, internal standards, and industry best practices.
  • Serve as the primary site liaison with regulatory agencies, including the Ministry of Labor, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve health, safety, environmental, and ergonomics policies, procedures, programs, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain training records, certifications, incident reports, inspection records, compliance logs, and other documentation required by regulatory agencies and internal standards.
  • Collaborate with operational and support departments to conduct incident investigations, identify root causes, develop, implement, and verify corrective actions.
  • Coordinate safety training, new-hire orientations, toolbox talks, awareness campaigns, and certification tracking.
  • Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits, workplace inspections, regulatory visits, and certification assessments.
  • Support health, safety, environmental, and ergonomics assessments, inspections, and audits, including the development and monitoring of resulting action plans.
  • Track, analyze, and report EHS performance metrics, trends, risks, and improvement opportunities to site and senior leadership.
  • Coordinate and attend monthly Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings, track action items, and monitor committee membership, training, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and technical support to EHS committees, operational leaders, employees, and other stakeholders.
  • Promote and develop EHS committee members to serve as effective safety champions and support EHS excellence throughout the organization.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through effective communication, employee engagement, visible leadership, accountability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Perform other responsibilities and assignments as required to support EHS priorities and achieve business objectives.

Education/Experience
  • Bachelors degree in EH&S or related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Professional certification(s) (CRST) in the EH&S field will be an asset.
  • 5-8 years professional experience; 10 to 12 year’s experience without completed degree depending on level of academic achievement.
Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage projects.
  • Exhibits a high degree of initiative and self-direction, a work style that is action-oriented and proven decision-making ability.
  • Demonstrates the understanding and aptitude for manufacturing processes, equipment and materials.
  • Working understanding Federal, State, and Industry EH&S codes and regulations.
  • Proven ability to articulate clearly in both written and verbal form.
  • Highly effective communication skills and ability to interact with people of various social/economic backgrounds, work experience and education levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation/communication software and tools used in the MillerKnoll office environment.

Compensation range for this role is $68,200.00 - $75,000.00. Relevant salary considerations will include candidate qualifications and experience, other business/organizational needs and market factors.
