The EHS Leader will lead and facilitate the integration of EHS processes, standard operating procedures/policies, and assist in administering programs and training in compliance with OSHA/EPA, Federal, and State regulations and standards.
This role involves counseling and supporting operations management and employees to achieve a safe and healthy working environment, promoting an efficient EHS work culture through supervisory and employee activities. The position requires significant hands-on involvement across all parts of the operation, including observing, monitoring, training, and coaching employees towards EHS goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement CHG EHS Programs and continuously improve EHS performance to achieve excellence, including emergency preparedness, safety risk assessments, waste management, ergonomics, contractor safety, and EHS culture.
- Track and analyze EHS and KPI data to evaluate programs, conduct workplace audits, close ATS findings, complete training, and manage injuries and incidents, using the Gensuite EHS system.
- Lead EHS permitting processes, liaise with regulatory authorities, and ensure full compliance with regulations.
- Provide technical advice, develop plans, and address environmental, health, or safety challenges.
- Support operations in EHS program development, implementation, and improvement.
- Sustain EHS and safety culture excellence.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable business and regulatory requirements.
- Support compliance programs related to safety, ergonomics, chemical safety, and environmental protection.
- Guide supervisors and Safety Teams to ensure regulatory and program compliance.
- Modify EHS programs and procedures for optimal performance.
- Conduct EHS training courses.
- Lead injury and illness tracking and case management.
- Support project management to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Assess facility EHS conditions, risks, trends, and performance.
- Develop corrective and continuous improvement plans.
- Investigate injuries, accidents, and incidents, and follow up on safety concerns.
- Ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
- Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies.
- Monitor progress against EHS metrics and goals.
- Ensure accurate recording of EHS data, including training, audits, and inspections.
- Collaborate with EHS HQ on projects and initiatives.
- Implement specific Framework requirements for assigned areas, including Risk Assessments and Chemical Management.
- Act as a member of the Emergency Response team, maintaining qualifications and supporting drills and exercises.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Required Qualifications:- 3+ years of EHS experience with a Bachelor’s Degree (preferred), or
- Associate’s Degree with 7+ years of EHS experience, or
- 10+ years of EHS experience without a degree.
Manufacturing experience is preferred. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other regulations is required.
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience with documentation management and change control.
- Proactive risk identification and countermeasure implementation.
- Proficiency with chemical/mechanical processes, testing, or Six Sigma initiatives.
- ASP or CSP certification is a plus.
- Ability to interpret and apply EHS regulations.
- Proficiency with MS Office and IT systems.
- Effective communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
- Professional representation to outside agencies, customers, and vendors.
