Job summary

Windsor Salt is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator to oversee site health, safety, and environmental programs at our Pugwash, NS facility. You will develop and implement policies, conduct training, and ensure regulatory compliance to protect employees and the community.

Responsibilities include risk assessment, incident investigation, audits, and reporting KPIs to management. A safety-focused mindset and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve site-specific health and safety, environmental programs and procedures.
• Provide guidance to managers and employees on H&S and environmental issues.
• Identify risks and implement controls to reduce hazards.
• Coach management and staff on safe work practices.
• Ensure H&S training is developed and completed per plan.
• Conduct inspections, audits, drills and self-assessments for compliance.
• Monitor and report H&S/environmental KPIs to management.
• Investigate incidents and execute corrective actions including root cause analysis.
• Manage WCB/WSIB claims and return-to-work processes.
• Validate fire safety programs and ensure sprinkler/alarm functionality.
• Liaise with external regulators and authorities.
• Track injuries, near misses, and safety observations.
• Stay current on regulations and emerging issues.
• Submit regulatory reports and maintain documentation.
• Oversee waste disposal to ensure compliance.
• Support sustainability projects aligned with company objectives.
