Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods is seeking an Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Coordinator to join our Winnipeg plant. You will support the development and enhancement of our health, safety and environmental programs, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial and corporate requirements.

You will deliver safety training, perform risk assessments, assist in incident investigations and support continuous improvement across safety and environmental initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12, preference for post-secondary education in OHS with at least 2 years of related manufacturing experience
  • Strong understanding and application of the Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations
  • Solid knowledge of the CSA Z432 Safeguarding of Machinery Standard
  • Knowledge of Manitoba environmental laws and regulations
  • Strong PC skills and experience with Microsoft Office software

Responsibilities

  • Provides on-floor safety support and promotes safety plans, goals and measurements
  • Delivers occupational health and safety training (WHMIS, safety orientation, incident investigation, etc.)
  • Performs job hazard analyses and creates safe work procedures
  • Assists supervisors with incident investigations and corrective actions
  • Monitors safety meetings, coordinates Supervisor Safety Program, and supports regulatory compliance
  • Supports environmental programs including water and wastewater management and regulatory reporting
  • Generates safety and environmental reports and maintains data records
  • Supports continuous improvement through audits and action plans
  • Ensures compliance with corporate policies and legislative requirements
