Beacon Building Products is a Fortune 500 distributor of residential roofing, commercial roofing and exterior building materials through our 20 locations in 6 provinces.Our division, Posi-Slope, is unquestionably the market leader in the design and production of Tapered Roof Insulation.This Canadian pioneer of sloping to drain with rigid roof insulation has successfully grown to have a national scope.

Due to incredible growth and demand of our products, we are currently seeking a Drafter/Estimator for our Vaughan, ON location.

The main role is to design and estimate tapered roof insulation systems and provide quality products and outstanding service through an integrated and experienced team.

What will my day-to-day look like?

-Gathering and forwarding to the estimating team all data (plans, specs, dimensions) relevant to tapered project estimation (on site, at clients’ office, on the Construction Association’s virtual drawings room or through appropriate contacts)
-Produce competitive estimates and quotes
-Work order preparation of shop drawings for production
-Produce accurate shop drawings for architectural review and manufacturing
-Occasional site visits and take-offs
-Handling technical questions and sales coordination with the estimator team, Architects, consultants, customers, contractors and the Beacon Roofing Supply or Posi-Slope Outside Sales team


What are the requirements?

-Strong communication and customer service skills
-Strong computer skills with MS Office
-Strong knowledge of AutoCAD software
-Completion of an Architectural Technology degree or diploma (or equivalent)
-The ability to work independently within a strong team
-The ability to work under pressure and to demonstrate leadership


What will give me an edge over other applicants?

-1-2 years previous drafting experience.
-Experience with building products/warehouse.
-Experience with AutoCAD software.
