Job description

What is the opportunity?

The Construction Engineer is responsible for the design and field review of buildings, underground infrastructure, bridge structures, temporary works required for construction, providing site support during construction, and working directly with contractors. Experience with shoring engineering on transportation projects is considered an asset.

What will you do?

• Design complex shoring and underpinning structures
• Design jacking, falsework, shoring, and roadway protection systems
• Provide immediate engineering support to contractors in the field
• Review work on construction sites
• Attend and conduct presentations

Requirements

What do you need to succeed?

• Master's Degree in Structural Engineering is an asset
• 8+ years of relevant experience with a professional engineering designation
• Professional Engineer licensed to practice in Ontario (PEO)
• Experience in design of temporary structures and construction engineering
• Familiarity with cut-and-cover structures, temporary shoring, utility relocation, and construction staging analysis
• Knowledge of MTO procedures
• Experience in bridge design and/or construction engineering for bridges
• On-site experience and working with contractors is preferred
• Strong understanding of engineering theories and principles
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Interest or knowledge related to embodied carbon is a plus
