Summary:

This role involves providing payroll accounting and funding analysis expertise and consultation to Alight clients. The position interacts with auditors, responds to technical inquiries, and ensures controls are in place to prevent audit exceptions. The incumbent leads projects to resolve high-risk escalations considering financial and legal impacts.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Support Managers with client engagement, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of information.
  2. Assist with implementations and go-lives.
  3. Support daily operations related to General Ledger documents and files.
  4. Perform financial audits, data analysis, reconciliation, and balancing of payroll results and GL interface transmittals.
  5. Investigate variances, analyze root causes, and communicate findings.
  6. Assess compliance issues, financial impacts, and associated risks.
  7. Facilitate resolutions, including system configuration changes.
  8. Provide formal recommendations on escalated issues, ensuring legal and financial compliance.
  9. Review internal processes for audit controls and compliance.
  10. Maintain and enforce process documentation and work instructions.
  11. Resolve technical/functional issues and report system defects.
  12. Participate in team meetings and escalate issues promptly.
  13. Respond to audit requests accurately and promptly.
  14. Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts and perform bank reconciliations.
  15. Communicate with payroll teams, clients, and vendors to resolve issues.
  16. Support automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  17. Assist with year-end processes.
  18. Handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  19. Identify upsell opportunities.
  20. Support client escalations and share lessons learned.
  21. Train and develop team members.
  22. Complete time recording accurately and on time.
  23. Perform other duties as assigned.
  24. Build relationships across business lines.
  25. Participate in projects and activities as assigned.
Professional Experience:
  • Payroll accounting experience preferred.
  • 1-3 years’ experience with Workday.
  • Ability to multitask and manage team workload effectively.
  • Focus on SLA attainment, goal setting, and teamwork.
  • Make timely, complex recommendations using technology and accounting knowledge.
  • Effective communication skills with internal teams and clients.
  • Problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Risk mitigation skills.
  • Flexibility for a global, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn.
  • Team collaboration and independent work skills.
Educational Requirements:
  • BA/BS in Accounting, HR, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3-5 years client-facing experience in HR consulting, outsourcing, or corporate environment.
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems like Workday, SAP, or PeopleSoft preferred.
  • Payroll accounting knowledge preferred.
