Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is seeking a Manager for a small Public Practice firm in Edmonton. Job description

Our client, who owns a small Public Practice firm, is searching for a Manager to join their team. This role will be responsible for the practice in Edmonton while providing support to another location in BC. A successful candidate will be a self-starter who can manage their schedule, file load, and business development. If you have the drive and initiative for this position, Partnership would be the next step within the company. This role is fully remote.

Your success will be defined by your ability to :
  1. Manage and review compilation, review engagement, and audit files (primarily NTR and review engagements).
  2. Prepare and review corporate, personal, and trust tax returns (T2, T1, T3).
  3. Provide tax planning and advisory services to clients, including GST and payroll-related matters.
  4. Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff.
  5. Manage client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for assigned files.
  6. Ensure compliance with firm policies and professional standards.
  7. Assist with internal practice management functions, including scheduling, budgeting, and quality control.
  8. Support business development initiatives and identify opportunities for additional client services.
Your strengths include :
  1. CPA Designation is required.
  2. Minimum 5 years of recent public practice experience, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  3. Previous experience in financial management, accounting systems, and reporting processes.
  4. Strong technical knowledge of Canadian accounting and tax standards.
  5. Proficient in CaseWare, TaxPrep / Profile, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  8. Experience working with small to mid-sized owner-managed businesses is an asset.
  9. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  10. Strong leadership and team management skills.
  11. Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
