*Organization Overview*

Employ to Empower (ETE) is a Vancouver based charity that empowers low-income individuals to overcome barriers through entrepreneurship. The barriers faced by our entrepreneurs include mental health challenges, physical disabilities, and recovery from addiction. Since 2018, over 400 people have taken our program, with an average completion of 81%.

We offer two flagship programs: Business Skills Training and Mentorship that are driven by our four core values: Community, Empowerment, Access and Acceptance. We believe in empowering people to make it in the long term by creating a self-sustaining community where our entrepreneurs become paid contributors, where they share their wisdom that they've gathered from our program to help others, creating a ripple effect of change.

*Position Description*

Position Title: Business Skills Training Coordinator

Reporting To: Business Skills Training Lead

Location: Employ to Empower Office with some work from home flexibility (based on program need)

Salary: $50,000.00 per year

Role Type: Contractor

Contract: June 1st, 2025 - December 31, 2025 (with possibility of extension funding permitting)

Schedule: Full-time (5 days a week), 37.5 hours per week

Desired Start Date: June 2nd, 2025

The Business Skills Training Coordinator will be part of the Business Skills Pillar (a.k.a. The BST Team). This Pillar's main focus is providing Business Skills Training by offering two different multiple-week programs and the coordinator supports the delivery and development of these programs. This role focuses on facilitating workshops, recruiting participants, building community partnerships, and providing program support that enables participants (in various stages of their business journey) to gain clarity, structure, and a basic business plan for their entrepreneurial journeys.

*Key Tasks Include*

Community Outreach & Partnerships

  • Research and identify local organizations aligned with ETE's mission and values
  • Generating partnership leads through collaborative initiatives
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with community partners
  • Develop strategies for ongoing community engagement and collaboration
  • Stay up to date on available community resources and share relevant opportunities with the ETE team
  • Initiating, attending, and representing ETE various community events (e.g. fairs, tabling & information sessions, gatherings)

Participant Recruitment & Program Support

  • Lead recruitment efforts for ETE's Business Skills Training programs by developing and refining outreach strategies
  • Improve recruitment materials and messaging to reflect program values
  • Continuously improving and implementing recruitment strategies and processes
  • Attending outreach & community events to promote the programs and engage potential participants
  • Assist with intake coordination and logistical preparation for program delivery
  • Supporting with the Business Skills Training program intake
  • Supporting with 1-1 Business Check-ins
  • Co-facilitate Business Skills Training workshops (in-person at ETE or at partner locations)

Administration & Reporting

  • Track and log participant referrals, workshop attendance, and community interactions
  • Record key partnership information, activities, and follow-ups
  • Support general program documentation and coordination needs

Team Support

  • Contribute to organization-wide initiatives as part of a small, collaborative team
  • Take on other duties as needed to support the success of the program and organization

*Qualifications*

Required

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (education, organizational psychology, business, or a relevant discipline) or a combination of education and experience will also be considered
  • Familiar with individuals facing barriers or from vulnerable populations
  • Passion for social impact, entrepreneurship, and equity
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Empathetic, compassionate, and community-oriented mindset
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, and positive attitude

Assets

  • Experience working in the non-profit sector and/or the Downtown Eastside (DTES)
  • Workshop facilitation or public speaking experience
  • Experience in community outreach, mentoring, or coaching roles
