Job Title: Paralegal
Location: Greater Toronto Area OR Quebec
The role will provide support to the business’s everyday legal needs, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, acting as the interface with our legal department, and contributing to the overall success of the company.
Responsibilities:
- Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on a wide range of issues to support the legal team in making informed decisions.
- Contract Management: Draft, review, and manage contracts, agreements, and legal documents, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Litigation Support: Assist in the preparation and management of legal documents for litigation matters, including gathering relevant information, organizing exhibits, and liaising with external counsel.
- Compliance: Monitor changes in laws and regulations relevant to the industry and assist in ensuring company-wide compliance. Develop and update internal policies and procedures as needed.
- Corporate Governance: Support corporate governance activities, including the preparation of board meeting materials, resolutions, and maintenance of corporate records.
- Legal Correspondence: Draft and review legal correspondence, including letters, memoranda, and reports. Maintain a well-organized system for tracking and responding to legal inquiries.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to provide legal guidance and support on various business initiatives. Collaborate with external legal counsel as necessary.
- Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Admin: Assist with various office and corporate-related finances and administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certification from an accredited institution.
- Experience with corporate, fintech, financing laws, and investments is an asset.
- Proven experience as a paralegal in a corporate legal department or law firm.
- Strong knowledge of legal research methods and databases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
