Job summary

Qualifications

• Secondary school diploma plus three-year interpreter training program or university degree.
• Minimum one year related experience is required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and board software used by the district.
• Adherence to professional interpreter ethics and ongoing professional memberships.

Responsibilities

• Translate spoken language to sign language and vice versa for deaf/hard of hearing students and others.
• Provide sign interpretation in diverse settings to support inclusion in regular classes.
• Prepare classroom materials to improve interpretation quality for lessons.
• Ensure appropriate seating, lighting and space for effective interpretation.
• Participate in IEP meetings and communicate with teachers, parents and staff.
