Job summary

Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is seeking a full-time Educational Assistant to support ECS students in a collaborative school setting. Hours range from 25 to 31 per week, with start ASAP and a closing date of Sept 22, 2026.

The role requires an Educational Assistant certificate or diploma and may require NVCI Level A&B. The successful candidate will assist with cognition, communication, physical and social development, implement teacher-directed programming, and work under a multi-disciplinary

Qualifications

• Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma required.
• May be required to obtain NVCI Level A&B.

Responsibilities

• Support students' growth in cognition, communication, physical and social development.
• Support and implement teacher directed programming.
• Work collaboratively under guidance of teacher, CST and multi-disciplinary team.
• Implement specialist strategies (OT, PT, SLP) to reach goals.
• Implement behaviour management and educational strategies to facilitate learning.
• Communicate effectively with students using age-appropriate reinforcements.
• Observe student behaviour to achieve positive outcomes and mitigate negatives.
• Provide structure to facilitate completion of learning outcomes.
• Work and play at the student’s physical level of activity.
• Provide support in use of adaptive and learning technologies.
• Follow and implement the Positive Behaviour Plan if required.
• Medical procedures support such as catheter, tube feeding, diabetic monitoring.
• Understand and support modified curriculum.
• Support students with Autism or complex medical needs.
• Physically lift and transfer students when needed.
• Provide school-directed indoor and outdoor supervision.
