Job summary

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking an Educational Assistant for a 100% term position at 35 hours per week to support students with exceptional needs. Under the Principal’s direction, you will be part of a school team, handling confidential information and collaborating with staff to implement specialized programs.

Responsibilities include assisting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities, pool programs, and physiotherapy exercises.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Developmental Services Worker or related field.
• Minimum 1–2 years of related experience with school-aged children with special needs.
• Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C is an asset.
• Completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems training.
• Please include copies of your diploma(s) and/or certificates applicable to the qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and students with developmental disabilities.
• Participation in pool programs, academic support, implementing special programs, support to deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students, physiotherapy exercises and stretches.
• Modify programs and support learning for students with learning disabilities and speech/language issues.
• Assignments may include outside yard duties, lifting, toileting, and/or pool duties.
• Knowledge of Ontario Curriculum and educational software such as Dragon and Kurzweil is assets.
