Job summary

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking a creative and committed Educational Assistant to support students with exceptional needs within the school. Under the Principal’s direction, you will work collaboratively with staff to provide academic and behavioural supports, pool program participation, and modifications as needed.

The role involves confidential information handling, occasional yard duties and physical tasks, and requires a Diploma in Developmental Services Worker or Child

Qualifications

• DSW/CYW or equivalent required.
• Autism experience required or preferred.
• Experience with assistive technology a plus.
• Ability to modify programs for students with diverse needs.
• Knowledge of crisis intervention and behavior support systems is beneficial.
• Strong collaboration, problem-solving and data recording skills.
• Willingness to perform yard duty and toileting assistance as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support students with exceptional needs under supervision of the Principal.
• Assist with pool programs, academic support and implementing special programs.
• Support deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students and perform related therapy exercises.
• Modify learning programs for students with diverse needs including learning disabilities and speech/language issues.
• Include safety tasks such as yard duty and handling of confidential information.
