Job summary

Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking an Educational Assistant for a 100% Term, 17.5 hours/week (11:45am–3:15pm). The EA supports students with exceptional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, within a collaborative school team.

Responsibilities include adapting programs, assisting with social and communication needs, and supporting confidence and safety during school activities. The successful candidate will have a college diploma in Developmental Services/ CYW, or equivalent,

Qualifications

• Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent.
• Minimum 1–2 years of related experience with school aged special needs children.
• Valid First Aid/CPR Level C is an asset.
• Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training.

Responsibilities

• Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and students with developmental disabilities within the school.
• Participate in pool programs, academic support, and implement special programs.
• Assist with toileting, feeding, and/or pool duties as needed.
• Modify programs and support learning for students with learning disabilities and speech/language issues; observe, record and chart behaviour data.
