Job summary

Upper Canada District School Board is seeking an Educational Assistant to support students with exceptional needs under the supervision of the Principal, LRT, and classroom teacher. The role involves assisting instruction in academic and integrated environments and implementing individualized education programs.

Candidates should have a secondary school diploma and a college diploma in relevant fields (Child & Youth Worker, Educational Assistant, or related) with strong skills in behavior

Qualifications

• Must possess a secondary school diploma and a two- or three-year college diploma in a relevant field.
• BMS training/certification is an asset.
• Related work experience would be an asset.
• RECE registration in good standing may be relevant in some contexts.
• Nursing diplomas require current certification if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Support development and implementation of goals based on academic needs and IEPs.
• Assist with therapeutic programs identified by Board personnel and external agencies.
• Administer medication and maintain records as authorized by school administration.
• Follow student safety and personal care plans in accordance with policies.
• Support adaptive and assistive technology to meet learning needs.
• Assist communication needs via sign language, braille, or other methods as required.
• Gather data and maintain records of student progress and behavior.
• Support behavior management programs in collaboration with staff and teams.
• Communicate with students, parents/guardians, and professionals regarding progress.
