Job summary

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking an Educational Assistant for a 0% term, 17.5 hours per week schedule from 8:40am to 4:20pm, supporting students with exceptional needs under the guidance of the Principal.

The role involves collaboration with learning teams, handling confidential information, and assisting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental disabilities, and related programs, including physiotherapy exercises and pool duties.

Qualifications

• Must have a community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, or Child and Youth Care/Worker or equivalent.
• Minimum 1-2 years of related experience with school-aged special needs students.
• First Aid/CPR is an asset.
• TCI and/or Behaviour Management Systems training is preferred.
• Copy of relevant diploma/certificates to be provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to students with exceptional needs in the school.
• Assist with autism, developmental disabilities, and related programs.
• Support deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students and participate in pool programs.
• Assist with physiotherapy exercises and stretches.
• May modify programs; assist with toileting and yard duties.
• Record and chart behaviour data.
