Job summary

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board is seeking an Educational Assistant: Classroom Assistant/Physical Care at Our Lady of Sorrows School. This 1.0 FTE temporary position starts September 4, 2026 and ends June 30, 2027, with compensation per collective agreement.

The role supports students with diverse needs, collaborates with staff, uses digital tools like Google Classroom and Google Meet, and prioritizes safe, supportive learning.

Qualifications

• Two-year post-secondary diploma in a relevant field such as Developmental Service Worker, Youth Worker, ECE, or Practical Nursing.
• Experience with students with multiple needs including physical needs, Autism, developmental delays, behavior, and anger management needs.
• Preference for candidates with direct experience working with children with behavior exceptionalities.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
• Working knowledge and experience of behavior modification strategies.
• Knowledge of augmentative communication strategies.
• Experience using technology and digital tools and resources that support the remote learning environment (Google Classroom, Google Meet).
• Excellent interpersonal skills; Good written and oral communication skills.

Effective September 4, 2026 and not to extend beyond June 30, 2027

Mandatory Requirements

• Two-year post-secondary diploma in a relevant field such as Developmental Service Worker, Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, or Practical Nursing (formerly RNA diploma).
• Experience working with students with multiple needs including physical needs, Autism, developmental delays, behavior, and anger management needs.
• Preference will be given to candidates with direct experience working with children with behavior exceptionalities.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
• Working knowledge and experience of behavior modification strategies.
• Knowledge of augmentative communication strategies.
• Experience using technology and digital tools and resources that support the remote learning environment (e.g., Google Classroom, Google Meet).
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Good written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Requirements

• Non-violent crisis intervention training would be an asset
• French language skills would be considered an asset
• First Aid training
