Job summary

Upper Canada District School Board in Ontario is accepting applications for an Educational Assistant. Under the supervision of the Principal and in consultation with the Learning Resource Teacher, the Educational Assistant provides support to students with exceptional needs within the school.

Responsibilities include supporting instruction, implementing IEPs, assisting with behaviour management, and coordinating with staff to ensure student safety and accurate records in a confidential

Qualifications

• Requires a secondary diploma and a 2-3 year college credential in a related field.
• Possession of applicable certifications (e.g., BMS) is an asset.
• Experience in education or related support roles is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support development and implementation of goals based on student needs and IEPs.
• Assist with therapeutic programs and monitor progress in collaboration with staff.
• Administer medications as authorized and per policy.
• Follow safety plans and support personal care needs as required.
• Use adaptive tech and sign language to support communication.
• Maintain student records and documentation of progress and incidents.
• Participate in meetings and Professional Development as required.
• Contribute to a positive, confidential, respectful classroom environment.
